NT Happenings

Howdy folks. Time for a Northern breath of fresh air.
Well temperatures have been up a little of late and combined with big spring tides dirtying up the water clarity, the Tuna have all but departed for the time being.
Hoping we get a cold snap one more time before temperatures start to rise, which will signal the transition to the "build up" and with it hot barra fishing action.
On a recent outing early morning we were jigging for Tuna of the rockwalls when we noticed bust ups about 500m from our location. Quickly upped the leccy and the race was on with another boat who had also seen some action. Throttled down and fired out casts for double hookups......only they wern't Tuna. They were just big queenies smashing the bait up which put a few smiles on our faces.

Most of my time recently has been spent running the odd charter for some mates out and about the billabongs.
Corroboree has absolutely been on fire lately with 10-15 fish sessions with a brace of large Toga being thrown in to mix it up.
Lost more Toga then what I've been landing trying to extract them from the sticks while casting.
Fortunately for 1st timers, trolling is just about the mainstay in Corroboree and it was one such occasion that I got one lucky chap onto his 1st barra. Dad and son were all smiles as his lure was crunched mid water and fat 84cm fish took to the air. Tense moments were shared before I slid the net under the brute and hefted him into the boat. Minutes later the fish was released and swam away strongly.

TOGA TIME

Young Calebs fish at 84cm. One of many he landed that day!

Never smile at a crocodile!

Hardies lagoon has alos fished well of late. Renowned for bigger fish than Corroboree I wasn't dissapointed landing 6 fish casting the snags the biggest going 74cm. I got wrapped around sticks that many times by big fish Sunday it wasn't funny. Always manage a smile tho after it. Some big Toga have also been kicking around which is quite unexpected for Hardies.
Flying back to Brissie for 2 weeks on the 7th August so I'll be trying to say g'day to a few mates (Pickers), and maybe check out an M&G if ones on. Only a quickie as I gotta get back for rugby finals and the onset of the build up!
Besides how can I stray too long from moments like these on the water.....

BILLABONG SUNRISE.....anticipation builds...

Cheers lads,

Lucky
