To prevent bronzed hooks from rusting without putting the fish off, you simply sprinkle talcum powder through your hook section of your tackle box, or sprinkle directly into bulk hook boxes if you are buying in bulk.

A lot of charter boats use bronze hooks as they are cheaper and will rust out of the fishes mouth if the line breaks, causing no damage to the fish should it break free.

And talcum powder is used to prevent the boxes of hooks from rusting before they get used.
